#14thHeadies: CDQ, Fans Fault Selection Process; Claim Naira Marley is Street-Hop Artiste
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

CDQ and some Fans have taken to the socialmedia to fault the selection process employed by the organisers of the just concluded #14thHeadies Virtual Award.

The pronouncement of Mayorkun as the Street-Hop Artiste of the year for his single titled “Geng” has attracted a lot of criticisms on the socialmedia by fans.

In December 2020, the organisers of The Headies released the list of the nominees for each category. The nominees for the street-hop category are:
(1) Geng – Mayorkun
(2) Pawon – Olamide
(3) Mafo – Naira Marley
(4) Bolanle – Zlatan IVD
(5) Audio Money – Rudeboy
(6) Instagram – Naira Marley, Olamide, Reminisce

The organisers of the award ceremony surprised fans as they named Mayorkun as the winner of the category with his single titled “Geng.”

Reacting to this, some of the users think one of Naira Marley’s hate tweet against Headies in 2019 was responsible for being left out of the Headies awatd. The tweet which was dated October 20, 2019 states that: “Legwork is bigger than headies2019.”

Nigerian music artist, CDQ has reacted to the shady process employed by the organizers; he said: “Headies una don start dis una obvious industry politics tins again… How d hell una go carry Best Street Hop give someone else at the expense of Naira dis yr 🤨 and conscience no judge una 🤦‍♂️ hmmm… (sic)

A fan of Naira Marley, @McclainEmma, said: “They f**king ripped nairamarley #14Headies #NairaMarley.”

@Elusojiosaz also said “they rob Naira Marley of the Street Pop award of the year.. And Mayorkun is supposed to be given the artist award of the year simple. #nairamarley #davido #HeadiesAward”

Also, @Adeleke_Adeolaa, reacted that “#NairaMarley deserves something better than award, I count award as ceremonies ever since jcole has been underrated by Grammy…fuck #14thheadiesaward I know my own FAV”
