FIFA and EA SPORTS have confirmed Sixteen (16) teams to compete in the FIFA Online 4 Series for the prize of USD 300,000 in December 2020.
FIFA and EA SPORTS today, 23rd of Nov. 2020 announced that this year’s FIFA e-continental Cup would be played in a cross-country remote production set-up, in order to guarantee the players’ safety.
The inaugural competition will feature 16 teams of the FIFA Online 4 Series including three teams from China, five teams from South Korea, five teams from Thailand and three teams from Vietnam to take place in December 2020.
These are disclosed in a statement on the official website of FIFA.
“Teams were able to gain ranking points throughout the season at EA Champions Cups.16 teams consisting of the best four teams on the leader boards, as well as, the top three teams from each country will compete for the inaugural title and a total of USD 300,000 will be distributed among the teams – a record high prize pool for FIFA Online 4”, the statement read in part.
“Teams were ordered on the leaderboard and within each country by their ranking point total, a higher placement in EACC Autumn 2020 and finally by play-in match points in the most recent event.”
The Draft Day of the FIFA e-Continental Cup will take place on December 11, which will be followed by the Group Stage from 13 – 16 December, after which the best two teams per group will proceed to the Knockout Stage scheduled to hold from 18 to 19 December and then compete for a place in the final.
History will be written on December 20 with the first-ever FIFA e-Continental Cup Champion being crowned after the final matches of the tournament.
The Deputy Commissioner of FIFA Online at EA, Piotr Pilich who aired his opinion about the event, stated that the event is a testament of the growth of a competitive scene in every aspect across Asia.
“We look forward to the culmination of a whole year of effort put in by players and teams to qualify for the biggest FIFA Online 4 event to date. It is a testament of the growth of the competitive scene in every aspect across Asia.” He said.
The Following are the 16 teams of the FIFA Online 4 Series that have qualified for the FIFA e-Continental Cup 2020 after last week’s EA Champions Cup, which include; Afreeca Freecs (KOR), Crazy Win (KOR), FaZe Clan (THA), Friends Forever Gaming (VIE), IDeaD Esports (THA), LNTS-SC (CHN), MS Chonburi (THA), NOVA (CHN), Progamer (VIE), Purple Mood Esports (THA) , SANDBOX (KOR), T1 (KOR), Walking Chicken (VIE), Wisdom Community (THA), Wolves.Weibo (CHN), and 1st (KOR).
The event will be livestreamed in four languages on various digital channels.
