The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS has reported that Benue, Abia, Cross Rivers States recorded the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) in June 2021, as the average price generally increased by 28.49% year-on-year.
In separate reports, NBS also reported an increase in prices of kerosene, diesel and cooking gas year-on-year in June 2021.
According to NBS, the “Average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) increased by 28.49% year-on-year and decreased month-on-month by -1.46% to N165.61 in June 2021 from N168.06 in May 2021.
“States with the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Benue (N183 29), Abia (N171.88) and Cross River (N170.50).
“States with the lowest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Taraba (N157.33), Borno (N160.10) and Katsina (N160.86).” It stated
Likewise, the “Average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene increased by 1.87% month on-month and by 10.84% year-on-year to N370.29 in June 2021 from N363.50 in May 2021.
“States with the highest average price per litre of kerosene were Taraba (N488 33), Ebonyi (N478 33) and Enugu(N465.69).
“States with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Bayelsa (N224 36), Katsina(N312 22) and Zamfara(N312.74).
“Similarly, average price per gallon paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene decreased by – 0.93% month-on-month and increased by 4.42% year on-year to N1,255.15 in June 2021 from N1,266 99 in May 2021.
“States with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene were Jigawa (N1,407.14), Ekiti (N1,406.11) and Kaduna(N1,402,50).
“States with the lowest average price per gallon of kerosene were Bayelsa (N990.00), Adamawa {N1,020.00) and Delta (N1.068.27).” NBS reported
Similarly, the “Average price paid by consumers for Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) increased by 1.51% month-on-month and by 8.05% year-on-year to N242.43 in June 2021 from N238.82 in May 2021.
“States with the highest average price of diesel were Edo (N264.18), Kwara {N261.00) and Niger (N260.00).
“States with the lowest average price of diesel were Gombe (N209.00), Plateau (N218.90) and Zamfara (N221.67).” NBS revealed.
However, the “Average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) decreased by – 0.15% month-on-month and increased by 4.80% year-on-year to N2,068.69 in June 2021 from N2,071.69 in May 2021.
“States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas} were Bauchi (N2,486.56), Anambra (N2,400 00) and Borno (N2,394.39).
“States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas} were Jigawa (N1,732.55), Abuja (N1,824.81) and Lagos (N1,839 19).
“Similarly, average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 0.002% month-on-month and by 3.62% year-on-year to N4,289.05 in June 2021 from N4,288.95 in May 2021.
“States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroteum Gas (Cooking Gas} were Enugu (N4,8 11.54), Abuja (N4,780.00) and Cross River (N4,650.12).
“States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 12.Skg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas} were Zamfara(N3,736.73), Kaduna (N3,841 43) and Imo (N3,911 85).” NBS stated
