Following the violent protest at the Capitol on Wednesday, two US Representatives have tested positive for coronavirus.
Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman announced on her Twitter page that she had contracted the virus during the Wednesday riot at Capitol.
“Following the events of Wednesday, including sheltering with several colleagues who refused to wear masks, I decided to take a Covid test.
“I am home resting at this time. While I am experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms, I remain in good spirits and will continue to work on behalf of my constituents.
I have tested positive.”
Rep. Pramila Jayapal also wrote on her Twitter handle that she had tested positive for the virus after being exposed to the virus when she was locked in a secured room at the Capitol.
She wrote that several Republicans refused to wear a mask and also mocked colleagues who offered them one.
“I just received a positive COVID-19 test result after being locked down in a secured room at the Capitol where several Republicans not only cruelly refused to wear a mask but recklessly mocked colleagues and staff who offered them one.”
She further agitated that:
“any Member who refuses to wear a mask should be fully held accountable for endangering our lives because of their selfish idiocy. I’m calling for every single Member who refuses to wear a mask in the Capitol to be fined and removed from the floor by the Sergeant at Arms.
She has also swore to do everything in her capacity to remove President Trump from office.
