An anonymous Lagosian has recounted his sad experience with the men of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA after driving against traffic on the third mainland bridge.
Narrating his experience, he advised vehicle owners to desist from passing “one way” as they risk being arrested, heavily fined or/and having their vehicles forfeited.
He alleged that the LASTMA officials and Police officers are working with some street louts to trick drivers into driving against oncoming traffic.
He said: “the link between Yaba and the bridge is closed for now but you will see a LASTMA officer or a police man or some touts directing you to an alternative route, if you follow, you will later be arrested for ONE WAY. And the executive order for now is forfeiture of arrested car”
According to him, when this eventually happens, the impounded and forfeited vehicles of the traffic offenders also get auctioned by the commission.
“I was arrested yesterday and have been in their office since yesterday. About 50 cars have been arrested and brought to their office at oshodi. They want to forfeit the cars and auction them as they did last week. I was favored today after calling everyone I know in Lagos and to no avail, to be fined #200,000. Please and please, avoid ONE WAY, anywhere in Lagos now. They are on revenue drive o”, he added.
