The General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman has been on the news over the arrest of a YouTuber identified as Israel Balogun, over allegations of criminal defamation and cyber stalking of the General Overseer.
Following this news, the General Overseer’s lawyer, Samuel Amune has made clarifications on what led to Balogun’s arrest, maintaining that the YouTuber was not arrested for his views on the ‘miracle money’, but for the unprintable names he called his client.
He also alleged that Balogun called Apostle Suleman a “yahoo man” and accused the General Overseer of having work connections with Hushpuppi.
According to Amune, Balogun is being detained to prove that Apostle Suleman is a criminal, magician, bandit and a fraudster as he claimed.
He also asked him to prove his claim that the General Overseer sends his Pastors to gather people’s account number before any crusade and engaging in electronic money transfer, claiming it is “miracle money”.
Amune further warned that they will go after anyone who goes to the internet to insult men of God, describing such act as “cyber stalking/bullying” and a “major crime’.
Recall that the 38-year-old YouTuber, Israel Balogun posted a video on his Youtube channel, where he showed clips of Suleman declaring to his congregation that angels would deposit money into their bank accounts. Thereafter, generating mixed reactions describing the claims as false and further slammed Suleman.
Following this accusation, it was reported that Balogun revealed that he got a threat call from one Obi-West over the video and a letter from Suleman’s lawyer on Monday, August 2, 2021, demanding a public apology within seven days.
The YouTuber also claimed that he later received an invitation from the Special Enquiry Bureau, FCIID, Abuja, signed by one ACP Yahaya Abubakar, asking him to report at the FCIID on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.
Refusing to present a public apology, the You Tuber was arrested and interrogated for about four hours according to report, and later detained after being given stringent bail conditions.
His lawyer, Inibehe Effiong reportedly confirmed on Wednesday August 11 that he had been detained.
