“I don’t know who shared my gospel on the net, because a lot of people record me with their phones whenever I preach the gospel on the street” – Baba Lori Iro

In the past couple of weeks, a phrase that continues to trend the socialmedia after the dreadful COVID-19 pandemic has been ‘Lori Iro’.’

Virtually every Nigerian in one way has used the term #loriiro as a reaction to any expression that seem to be filled with falsehood or exaggerated.

Probably, due to the timely arrival of the refrain, #loriiro, in the media during the Valentine season.

‘Lori Iro’ is a Yoruba phrase that simply means, ‘on lies.’ It is a term chosen by Evangelist Ismail to satirise the facade in the world most especially among acclaimed lovers.

Users have used this term to reveal the lies they have or someone has made to them and exaggerated statement.

Check out some #loriiro trend on our instagram page.

Speaking with BBC Yoruba, Baba Lori Iro shares that he joined Christianity 17 years ago, and started evangelism 10 years after, using entertainment to attract listeners to listen to his gospel.

“I became a Christian 17 years ago and started evangelism 7 years ago… I learnt people do not want to listen to God’s gospel, so God taught me to adopt singing and dancing.”

Commenting on what motivated the subject of his evangelism, Baba Lori Iro said the experiences around him and his personal experience motivated his message.

“The subject of my evangelism centres on experiences that happen around me, I have seen a lady jilt a man two weeks to their wedding after meeting a wealthier man. Also, my wife once left me when we had issues.”

No doubt, Lori iro trend is another of the numerous trends that will not be easily forgotten, as far as Baba Lori Iro continues to keep up with the pace that trails the hall of fame in Nigeria.

14k followers in less than 2 weeks of joining the socialmedia

Starting with over 3k followers in less than 5 days of joining the socialmedia, Baba Lori Iro now has over 14.1k followers on his official Instagram page @evangismail.

Appreciating his “14,000 favoured followers,” Baba Lori Iro said on his official handle “the word of God will not go unfulfilled! Isaiah 60:12… Thank you for the love, Jesus loves you more”
