Beyonce underfire for ignoring protest

Fans and social media users have blasted American singer and actress, Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, for not lending a voice to the on-going #EndSARS protest.

A video by popular Nigerian afrobeat artiste Tiwa Savage sparked this outrage. Tiwa Savage took to her instagram account to call out Beyonce and her team for staying silent about the current police brutality fight going on in Nigeria.

Tiwa Savage noted that Beyonce‘s latest album “Black is King”, majorly about the uniqueness and beauty of Africa and afrobeat, was widely celebrated by Africans.  Thus , it is necessary for Beyonce to lend a voice to the present situation of the country “that birthed this afrobeat genre”.

However, mixed feelings have trailed these comments by Tiwa Savage.

Lioness queen @Beyonce say something ??✊?❤️

Where are those people that wanted to give Beyonce mama Africa because she packed Nigerian/African artiste on her album?

Its been over one week your mama Africa hasn't said a thing about #EndSARS.

Every Nigerian artist featured on @Beyonce album should call her attention now. She can't just japa like that. #EndSARS #ReformTheNigerianPolice

BEYONCÉ WILL SPEAK WHEN SHE FEELS LIKE SPEAKING….she is not the cause of Nigeria’s problem so deal with it.

This Beyoncé drag is not necessary at all, we all know these people only interest is to cash out from our culture and that’s all..please let’s focus on our main goal and that’s to #EndSWAT it’s okay if they don’t want to join us, our voice is big enough because we’re united ✊? pic.twitter.com/o3GRIJ5Ddt

We don't need to call on Beyonce and other celebrities because the world is already watching. You're either for us or against us, it won't stop this movement to #EndSARS
Definitely our efforts and voices won't be in vain. This Generation will always make a difference #EndsSARS
