Widespread reactions from fans, friends, and concerned Nigerians have continued to trail the predicament athlete, Blessing Okagbare has found herself in.

Recall that The News Beam had earlier reported that the Athletics Integrity Unit slammed a 10-year ban on her in a statement on Friday, February 18, 2022.

AIU stated that she got five years for the presence and use of multiple prohibited substances and five years for her refusal to co-operate with the investigation.

While some Nigerians suspect foul play in the decision to restrict the athlete from competitions, others believe the ban is well deserved.

Here are some of the reactions:

Nigerians are funny, Blessing Okagbare broke the rules she's acquainted with, made investigation difficult to be carried out on her. And they are here blaming the arbiters for her own deplorable acts. Nigerians don't treat laws as sacrosanct, and that's why laws don't work here.

— Zaruq (@zaruqspace) February 18, 2022

Blessing Okagbare ending her career this way breaks me.

A good runner, one of Nigeria's best. Painful.

— Everest (@novieverest) February 18, 2022

The 10-year ban for Blessing Okagbare is pretty much a career-ending one. Truly sad 💔

— DREYLO (@RealDreylo) February 18, 2022

What a devastating news.

Blessing Okagbare 💔

10Yrs ban is def hanging of boot.

— Adewale Adetona (@iSlimfit) February 18, 2022

I didn't say what Blessing Okagbare did is good but banning her for 10 years is inhuman and career threatening, that woman is around 35 apparently she will be 45 when she's out of ban, my question is how do you want a 45 yrs old woman to get back to track and field events? How?

— OMOTAYO Of Lagos 💥 (@Tee_Classiquem1) February 18, 2022

A 10 year ban for Blessing Okagbare for doping and failing to cooperate with officials?

In simple terms, her career is over!

— Wilfred Mong (@DsilentG) February 18, 2022

That verdict on Blessing Okagbare is too much and i must say there's no iota leniency in that judgement on her.

— Komolafe Tolulope Joshua (@iam_toluano) February 18, 2022

10 years is a career ending ban for Blessing Okagbare but, not the end of her life if she INVESTED

Try dey invest. What you love doing can elude you sometimes. But, you still have a chance to live.

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!

— Onye Film! ✊🏾 #EndSARS (@smartjobonson) February 18, 2022

10- year ban? Oh hell! I don't know how Blessing Okagbare will Com out of this quagmire. It's over!

— Uche (@The_UcHandsome) February 18, 2022

Blessing Okagbare should just go and open supermarket in Asaba, because like this like this e don be!

— DEVOYCE(NigeriaInfo99.3) (@devoyce007) February 18, 2022

Dwaine Chambers was caught with 7 different substances in 2003. He was banned for only 2 years. Blessing Okagbare
