The Canadian government has lifted the travel ban placed on Nigeria amid worries over the spread of the recently discovered Omicron variant of the Coronavirus.
This decision was announced by Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of health in Canada.
Speaking at a media briefing on Friday, he said “While we recognise the controversial nature of such a prohibition, we believe it was a necessary measure to slow the arrival of Omicron in Canada and buy us some time” .
