Tottenham Hotspur has sacked its head coach, Jose Mourinho.
This was contained in a statement by the Chairman of the team, Daniel Levy, today.
According to the statement, Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra were relieved of their duties while Ryan Mason takes the first team training today.
Mourinho joined the team in 2019, signing a 5-year deal scheduled to end in 2023.
Tottenham parts ways with Mourinho after spending less than half of his stipulated years, and making the team 7th on the premier league table with a risk of losing out in the top 4.
The Chairman said: “Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a Club. Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic. On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged. He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution.”
