Yesterday, I was at the apartment of Tolu’s mum to make use of her charger because mine suddenly developed a fault. Tolu is just a 6 year old girl-child. I was surprised at what she was doing when I got into the apartment.
With what she was doing, I affirmed the fact that the minds of children are like empty plates that are ready to take in anything. Tolu was reciting word for word the about-10-minutes-long advertorial she had learnt from watching the television.
I was surprised at this skill then wondered if parents of kids like Tolu could channel this innate skill their children possess to more rewarding and developmental tasks?
What You Should Teach Your Child at Early Age
Language: The first thing a child learns is the ability to speak and communicate. During this learning stage, the child makes errors that reveal his/her development in the learning process. As such, a child makes these errors, it is sacrosanct that you correct him/her. This process will aid the language acquisition process.
Note: Be fluent while you teach your child the language, and avoid teaching wrong expressions.
Moral: A child’s mind is flexible, anything you teach him/her stays forever in them. For this reason, it becomes important for you to teach your child good morals. Teach your child to respect, take responsibility, be truthful and honest.
To Love: It is important to teach your child how to accommodate other persons irrespective of their differences. Also, teach your child to be kind and be at peace with others. When these acts are inculcated in the young lads, it is a step to creating a better society.
This list is endless, however, the most important thing to note is to pay close attention to everything your child(ren) do(es).
