The Honourable Commissioner for Health of Lagos State, Prof. Akin Ayobami has called citizens and well wishers to pray for the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, having tested positive to Covid-19.
As disclosed on the official Twitter handle of the Honourable Commissioner for Health of Lagos State, Prof. Akin Ayobami requesting said,
“Please join me in praying and wishing the Incident Commander of the Lagos State COVID-19 response Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu a speedy recovery so he can return to normal duties as soon as possible.”
The Governor who was confirmed positive after a PCR test, has been suspected to have contacted the virus from one of his aides that was earlier confirmed positive.
Prof. Ayobami also disclosed that Sanwo-Olu has begun treatment and he is being closely monitored.
“Mr Governor is receiving treatment and is being closely monitored at home by the very experienced State COVID19 clinical team from IDH Yaba.
“Mr Sanwo-Olu is doing well on treatment and rest and we are confident that he will recover quickly and clear the virus.” He said.
However, an increase in the number of Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the state, and the commissioner advised residents and visitors to adhere strictly to the precautionary measures given.
“We are seeing slightly increasing number of COVID19 positive cases in clusters in Lagos and all residents and visitors should strictly adhere to the prescribed advisories of safe distancing, mask wearing, good hand and respiratory hygiene and avoidance of unnecessary or large gatherings.” Prof. Ayobami advised.
The Commissioner however promised to regularly keep the public informed on the Governor’s recovery and wellbeing.
