A Magistrate Court in Ilorin on Wednesday ordered a man named Usman Abdulkareem to be remanded, for allegedly conspiring with an herbalist, and a friend to abduct his wife.
The Investigation conducted by the prosecution Counsel, Sgt. Abubakar Issa, revealed that Abdulkareem called Mumeenat, his wife, on phone and asked her to meet him in the second defendant’s house at 5 p.m.
The investigation also revealed that Mohammed is an herbalist who allegedly uses human parts for money rituals.
The police charged Abdulkareem, the herbalist whose name is Babatunde Mohammed and his friend, Fatai Adisa with two charge counts of criminal conspiracy & abduction, and an attempt to commit culpable homicide, contrary to Section 97 and 274 of Penal Code Law.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Nonetheless, Issa prayed for an adjournment to enable the police complete its investigation.
In response to Issa’s plea, Magistrate Afusat Alege ordered the defendants be remanded in Oke Kura Correctional Centre, Ilorin and adjourned the case until February 24, for further mention.
