The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 says Nigerians under the age of 18 years will not receive the COVID-19 vaccines in the country.
The Minister of State for Health, Olorunnimbe Mamora, made this known in an interview with newsmen.
According to him, the Federal Government has plans to give out the vaccine to 70 per cent of Nigerians within two years.
According to the Federal Government, the vaccination exercise shall be in phases: Which include:
Phase 1: Frontline health workers & strategic leadership
Phase 2: 50 & above (60 & above, then 50-59 – with priority of course for people with co-morbidities)
Phase 3: 18-49 with co-morbidities, and
Phase 4: Rest of eligible population (i.e. 18-49 without co-morbidities)
With this, an e-registration portal has been created to facilitate the vaccination process as the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) aims at employing the traditional Polio Immunization strategy.
