Today, Saturday, according to the Islamic jurisdictions, is potentially the last day to cut your hair and nails if you intend to sacrifice an animal on Eid-al-Adha.
Saturday, July 10, 2021 is the last day of Dhu’l-Qi’dah – the second to the last month of the Islamic calendar. This means Sunday, July 11, 2021 is the first day of Dhul-Hijjah; 10 days to Sallah.
According to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), any Muslim intending to sacrifice an animal on Eid-al-Adha festival, he/she must not cut his/her hair or nails in the first ten days that preceded the festival.
“When anyone of you intends to sacrifice the animal and enter in the month of Dhul-Hijjah, he should not get his hair cut or nails pared till he has offered his sacrifice.” (Muslim)
Eid-al-adha comes up on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah. Eid-al-adha is celebrated to mark the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim.
