President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed dissatisfaction with foreign media coverage of the violence that followed the EndSARS protests in October.

Taking to his official twitter account, Buhari stated that the reports by the media organizations, especially the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and America’s Cable News Network (CNN) were biased.

The President lamented that these reports are “disgusting” to him because it left out some of the attacks policemen suffered.

Recall that the CNN had released as investigative report on the alleged shooting of EndSARS protesters by soldiers in Lekki Toll Plaza, Lagos, on October, 20, 2020, a month after the incident. This report refuted some of the claims by the men of the Nigerian Army and Lagos state government.

“It must be said that foreign press coverage of the ENDSARS violence was not balanced, especially from CNN and BBC. I was disgusted by the coverage, which did not give attention to the policemen that were killed, the stations that were burnt, and prisons that were opened”, he tweeted.

Expectedly, the President’s statement has attracted widespread reaction on social media with many Nigerians comdemning it.

See some of their comments below:

Reno Omokri@renoomokri
“it is sad that General #Buhari announced his disgust of @CNN and @BBC’s coverage of #EndSARS. Sad, because this same man never expressed disgust or sadness for the many Nigerians killed by his soldiers at #LekkiMassacre. What a heartless fellow! What if the dead were your kids?”

@farouq_shittu1
said “Mr. President @MBuhari Crime rates has exploded in most parts of our country. #EndSARS peaceful protesters came out to exercise their fundamental human rights. How can you be disgusted by CNN and BBC for doing their job?”

Tosin Olugbenga@TosinOlugbenga
“either Tolu or Femi Adesina or Garba Shehu is disgusted not Buhari. Because Buhari is not even aware CNN and BBC did any coverage”.

Damorela #MadeInLagos@damorelaa
“let it be known that our President, Buhari is more concerned about CNN and BBC‘s coverage of police stations burnt & policemen killed during the #EndSARS protest than the lives of youths that were lost to policemen & military shootings at Lekki on that night LET THAT SINK IN”.

LANDLORD@aminuyaro_
·”Nigerian students are suffering from the 10month ASUU strike while the President is more concerned on CNN and BBC#EndSARS protest coverage. Does Nigeria deserve to be a Country sef?? Even if we qualified to, then surely we didn’t Deserve someone like Buhari to rule us”.

William@_SirWilliam_
“CNN and BBC disgusts them because they know what they did. They are disgusted because they could not hide this like they did in Zaria, Odi, Asaba, Oyigbo and many others. Apply pressure”.

‘Fisayo Soyombo@fisayosoyombo
“I’m also disgusted that the coverage of CNN and BBC did not give attention to those who imported the thugs that infiltrated the protesters, the SARS officials who killed/fleeced innocent civilians in the past, the identities of the soldiers who shot Lekki protesters. I really am”

𝐌 𝐎 𝐇 𝐍 𝐈 𝐂 𝐄 @Mohnice_
“almost Everybody is going through some deep sh**t in Nigeria, and president buhari is only concern about CNN and BBC coverage I just pray we all get through it”.

Wale Adetona@iSlimfit
“you are not disgusted by the killing of innocent protesters, it is CNN and BBC report that is your problem. This is heartless”.
