The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has issued a stern warning against hooliganism during the #EndSARS demonstrations.
In a tweet by @NGRPresident today, December 7, 2020, it was made known that the President gave this warning in Abuja.
”President @MBuhari today in Abuja warned that any act of hooliganism hiding behind lawful and peaceful protests will be dealt with decisively to ensure peace and stability in the country”, the tweet read.
Meanwhile, Nigeria is currently witnessing what seems like a second wave of the #EndSARS protests.
This is coming after the first wave of protests rocked the country in October. It is worth noting that 3 weeks into these protests in October, things took a sour turn as Nigerians experienced massive destructions of properties and looting as protests appeared to have been hijacked by hoodlums.
The hashtag created to amplify the call for good governance and end of police brutality, #EndSARS, returned to the twitter trend table last week.
After taking a break last month, protesters today stormed the streets of Lagos, Abuja and Osun states in peaceful demonstrations.
