“… It’s not the officer that would pay the price alone, the Zebra, the Commander and the Controller of the zone that is under investigation, that officer is will be the one held responsible.” – Olajide Oduyoye

The above warning was contained in a video message by the General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Mr Olajide Oduyoye. The message was directed to all Zebras, commander and controllers of LASTMA. Among other things Oduyoye acknowledged that the agency is under pressure following the #EndSARS protest against police brutality.

Olajide said:

“… I would like to reiterate that the pressure is real, the pressure for LASTMA to change its attitude on the roads with motorists needs to change. If we don’t take the opportunity to change now, they would turn on us.”

“The complaints are high, the complaints are real, Oworonshoki is real, very real. So we need to change strategy, we need to change ourselves, we need to change expectations, we need to calm down.”

He further warns that officers who are caught engaging in corrupt practices such as extortion and deliberate wicked acts will not only be seriously dealt with, the zebras, commanders and controllers of the officer’s zone will also pay the price.

Meanwhile, he implored controllers and commanders to warn their officers to desist in such misconduct on the road.
