Nigerians on social media have slammed President Buhari’s aide, Femi Adeshina, for saying Buhari never promised to make the naira equal in value with the US dollar.
Stating this on a television programme ‘Sunday Politics’ on Channels Television, Femi Adeshina insisted the claim that “Muhammadu Buhari made such a promise were false. It does not exist, it is fake, it is false, it is apocryphal.”
Reacting, @FS_Yusuf_ wrote; “Femi Adesina denies the $1 =N1 promise. A very audacious attribute of the ruling class is their ability to deny their prominent campaign promises when they know they are failing. They do it so confidently not minding public reactions. This is a critical form of political theft.”
“You know when you have free money you can’t relate with reality. Does Femi Adesina knows that small indomie we bought N30 in 2015 is now N70, does he know that dettol soap we bought N60 in 2015 is now N350, When we hit the streets to protest again bullets won’t stop us,” @UnclePauly tweeted.
@savndaniel went as far as digging the report of the president’s promise in March 2015. He wrote; “RE: BUHARI NEVER PROMISED NAIRA-DOLLAR PARITY. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, on the 28th of March 2021 said that Agbalumo never promised naira-dollar parity. Mr. Adesina insisted while appearing as a guest on.”
