The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri Erewa, has assured that stranded Nigerians in Saudi Arabia would be evacuated before the end of January.
This development came in after a video of about 600 stranded Nigerians who wrapped themselves in nylons surfaced in the socialmedia.
The video was shared by a Twitter user with the name @KsaApc.
The video shows dozens of men wrapped in nylon, lying down in an enclosed room.

The speaker in the video said they have been stranded in the country for:
“more than three months, six months, seven months ago, without any action, no better information based on transportation back to Nigeria.
“Most nationals of other countries have been flown back to their countries. Only we Nigerians don’t have any source or way of getting back.
“I’m here on behalf of others to seek your assistance to get us back to our country.”

The speaker also shared that he:
“Spoke with one of the brothers and he told me that his brother was among the detainees. Part of them have ended their stays and do not have the ability to renew and the other does not have regular residencies.”
Reacting to this, NIDCOM Chairman, assures that the immigrants would be evacuated on the 28th and 29th January, pending any unforeseen issues.
She buttressed that the delay in the evacuation was as a result of issues relating to Covid-19.
