Nigeria’s central bank weakened the local currency to a record low during trading at the Investors and Exporters (I &E) window on Friday.
The naira closed at N404.67/$ at the I&E window, according to the website of the Lagos-based FMDQ OTC Securities Exchange, a platform that oversees foreign-exchange trading in Nigeria.
This follows a 22.04% rise in the volume of dollars traded (turnover) in the I & E window to $96.50 million today from $79.07 million yesterday.
On the parallel market, naira sold for N473.50/$ today, appreciating by N1.50 from yesterday’s sale at N475/$, according to naija bdcs.com.
