Some Nigerians have lambasted the Federal Government for claiming that it had registered 100,000 business names in its Formalisation Programme.

The Federal Government announced via Its official Twitter page, @NigeriaGov on Wednesday, January 28, 2021.

The Federal Government shared that it is:

“Pleased to announce that we have hit a milestone of 100,000 Business Names registered free of charge by @cacnigeria1 as part of the @SurvivalFund_ng. Registering these existing and new businesses brings them into the formal economy, with benefits for the Govt and the businesses.”

A Nigerian Twitter user, @sheikhshola, shared that the process was not transparent. He shared that;

“The honest truth about this free Business Name registration is that it isn’t as transparent as expected. I just think each state focal person needs to be checked. The Nigerian Government gave the the clear intent under the Survival Fund, and I think transparency is the hiccup.”

Also, @SaniAbd39970560 said “it’s a lie, government needs to checkmate those focal persons in charge of registration…”

In the same vein, @sweet_sstuff said “who are the people that benefitted from this? I know a lot of people that tried repeatedly to apply but it never went through.”

@famonzo01 said “Propaganda never ends for this government…”
