Fuel Scarcity: NNPC Reveals MRS, OANDO As Suppliers Of Bad Petrol
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has pointed accusing fingers at four importers following the circulation of bad fuel across the country.

Recall that The News Beam had earlier reported that some Nigerian cities are currently witnessing scarcity of fuel with long queues returning to petrol stations..

This scarcity is said to be propelled by NNPC’s move to seize the circulation fuel in a bid to stop the sale of adulterated fuel across the country.

However, in a statement by the company’s spokesman Garba Deen Muhammad on February 10, 2022, NNPC boss, Mele Kyari made it clear that MRS, Oando, Duke Oil and a consortium of consisting Emadeb/Hyde/AY Maikifi/Brittania-U were responsible for importing the fuel into Nigeria.

This bad fuel is said to contain a high level of methanol.

Read statement below:

2. The Chief Executive Officer/ Group Managing Director of NNPC @MKKyari made the pledge at the end of a meeting with some oil marketers to resolve the issues generated by the recent supply and discharge of methanol blended petrol in some Nigerian depots.
