It is no news that the Federal Government has ordered all mobile operators to block the SIM cards that are not registered with the National Identification Number (NIN).
This news has sent panic to many as they are not sure about the status of their SIM cards.
Gladly, TheNewsBeam brings to you a soothing information that would drive away your worries.
Here is what you need to do to know the status of your simcard.
According to the National Identification Management Commission (NIMC), you can check your NIN using a USSD code on your mobile phone.
However, only the mobile number registered with the NIMC would generate your NIN. This implies that if you try the step below and didn’t receive your NIN, you are at the risk of getting your line blocked.
Generate your NIN by dialing this code on MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile lines. NOTE, You will be charged N20 for this service.
In case you receive a response after following the instructions, it means your SIM card is not connected with your NIN, hence, risk blockage by your mobile network.
To avoid being blocked by your service provider, visit your mobile network accredited centre in your area to update your registration record.
