The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has recommended the immediate suspension of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, over alleged connection with notorious fraudster, Abbas Ramon (Hushpuppi).
In a statement signed by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) PRO, Frank Mba, the suspension is “to create an enabling environment for the NPF Special Investigation Panel (SIP) to carry out its investigations into the weighty allegations against DCP Abba Kyari without interference.”
The suspension is in line with the internal disciplinary processes of the Force.
According to the statement, the NPF SIP which comprises of four (4) Senior Police Officers, headed by DIG Joseph Egbunike, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), is saddled with the responsibility to review the allegations against the DCP and also obtain detailed representation of the DCP to all the allegations levelled against him.
