Nigerian human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore has advocated for the release of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu arrested on Sunday, 27th June 2021.
Recall that TheNewsBeam reported that Kanu was arrested on Sunday through the joint efforts of the Nigerian Intelligence and Security Services.
He (Nnamdi Kanu) was also extradited in order to continue facing trial after disappearing, while on bail regarding 12 count charge against him.
However, Sowore in a recent post on his social media advocates for Kanu’s release saying:
“FreeKanu Now! Asking for self determination is not a crime!”
Omoyele Sowore is a Nigerian human rights activist, pro-democracy campaigner, former presidential candidate, and founder of an online news agency Sahara Reporters.
On 3rd August, 2019 Sowore was arrested by the Nigerian State Security Service for alleged treason after calling for a protest tagged RevolutionNow.
