The Federal Government (FG) has proved its preparation for Nigerians who are bent at staging a nationwide protest, #June12Protest, in commemoration of the death of democracy in the nation.
Using a double side matchet, the Buhari-led administration has hacked its citizens with an indefinite suspension of twitter operation in Nigeria.
In the same vein, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has directed the Nigerian Police Force to be stern at any person or group whose action may threaten the nation’s internal security.
Stating this at a meeting with strategic commanders of the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja, the IGP said:
“June 12 Democracy Day is days away. We are currently reviewing the security situation, with a view to ensuring a hitch-free exercise.
‘’Details of this will form part of our discussion. I must, however, remind you all of the need to remain civil with law-abiding citizens, but firm with any person or group that may wish to take advantage of the event to threaten our internal security order.”
These developments beyond reasonable doubt are moves by the Nigerian Government to fraustrates the preparation for the scheduled protest.
Learning from its past mistake during the #EndSARS protest, the Buhari-led administration can not afford to experience such an excruciating attack on his government again.
Before the indefinite suspension of Twitter, #June12Protest campaigns have begun on the platform with lots of Nigerians promising to join the demonstration offline and online. Following the chaining of Twitter, Many Nigerians have adopted new means signing in from the country despite the ban.
