The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced Yemi Akinwonmi, deputy national chairman (south) as the acting national chairman of the party.
Making this announcement on Thursday, 26 August, 2021, is the spokesperson for the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, after a closed-door meeting of the national working committee (NWC) in Abuja.
Recall that PDP has been undergoing internal crisis, which has resulted in some major stakeholders defecting to the opposition party.
This however resulted in the party’s Board of Trustees setting up a committee to resolve the party’s crisis on August 5, 2021.
On Monday, 23 August, 2021, the party’s deputy national chairman (South), Elder Yemi Akinwonmi, took over the affairs of the party following the restraining order issued against the National Chairman, Uche Secondus, by a Rivers High Court in Port Harcourt.
