Kano State Hisbah commander Haruna Ibn Sina, has disclosed that the latest Miss Nigeria, Shatu Garko parents will be arrested for her participation in the beauty pagent.
18-year-old Garko had been crowned the 44th Miss Nigeria after beating 17 other finalists to win the 2021 edition of the beauty pageant on Friday, December 17, 2022, in Lagos.
Garko also made history as the first hijab adorning Muslim to win the pageant since its inception in 1957.

However, while speaking with BBC Pidgin, Haruna stated that Muslims from Kano are not permitted to participate in pagents under the sharia law.
To this end Garko’s parents, who currently reside in Kano, will be brought int custody for allowing their daughter get involved in the contest.
According to Ibn Sina, Garko’s actions are illegal and it is important for it to be corrected to discourage other young girls from the state from threading the same path.
