A lady is presently cooling her heels in the State CID, Panti, Yaba, while the Police carry-out further investigation.
A daughter of a landlady, Ms Tina Essi was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly beating a 49 year-old man to death over electricity bill in Oreyo, Ikorodu.
Until the incident, the victim, Christian Akparie and the suspect lived at 26, Orijamogun Street, Oreyo, Ikorodu, Lagos.
According to the report from the preliminary investigation, the Lagos State Police Spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said Tina and the Victim had an argument on Electricity Bill which led to a fight on January 31, 2021.
“After the fight, the deceased had continually suffered severe pains but unfortunately, on Saturday 6th February 2021 at about 7am while the deceased was being rushed to the General Hospital, Ikorodu, he gave up the ghost,” the Police Spokesman reported.
The Police Operatives attached to the Ikorodu division received the distress call and swing to action which led to the arrest of the suspect.
The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Departmet, SCIID, Panti for thorough investigation.
The CP urged the relatives of the deceased to remain calm as the command will ensure justice prevails.
In the same vein, the police boss appealed to Lagosians to always manage their differences and conflicts with maturity and seek police intervention where necessary to avoid untimely deaths and running into troubles.
