The Rano Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State has banned men and women from meeting in public places at night.
Announcing this on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, is the chairman of the LGA, Dahiru Muhammad, through his information officer Habibu Faragai, stating the new law at a security committee meeting attended by residents and traditional leaders.
According to report, the new law was created following the reported high rate of immorality among people of opposite genders, including divorcees.
The new law which is meant to rid the council area of immoral activities occurring during the night, will also prohibit lovers from seeing at night, but allows them to meet only during the day to discuss.
The state’s Hisbah board and other security agents at the local level, have been ordered to ensure compliance and arrest defaulters.
Furthermore, the district head of Rano LGA, Mannir Tafida-Abubakar, has urged parents to compulsorily support the new law, if not, they will face the consequences.
“Parents must welcome the decision and support it. If parents do not cooperate and such things happen again, the affected will face the consequences of their negligence.” Tafida-Abubakar said.
Tafida-Abubakar also asked village heads, ward heads and Imams across the council to ensure compliance with the new law. Adding that there are about three major issues bordering on immorality happening in the area which had become a source of concern to residents.
