Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Some Nigerians on Twitter have begun to send words of encouragement to Mayowa Odueyungbo, 17, who was harshly criticised by Seyi Shay at the Nigerian Idol television show.

Seyi Shay, who is a judge at the Nigerian Idol television reality show harshly said, last Sunday night, to the singer;

“Somebody lied to you and told you to come and audition, and that person, you should go back and tell them they are not your friends because that was not good audition.

“Oh, you have a good talking voice, and it comes out in your singing voice, but your performance, terrible. You are never going to make money being a singer.”

This words broke the 17-year old contestant as he shared on his Twitter handle, @ayotorrus, that “this broke me Emotionally and Psychologically, but God got me !!🙏🏽 📌”

Encouraging the contestant, @simplyEromz wrote; “don’t beat yourself. Be positive and use this experience and new popularity to propel your skills and career!”

@ddllaaww also wrote; “let it be your motivation buddy. Keep this date so that you will mention her name… and say..she once said …but today I am doing exploits. She saw her failure in you but was too myopic to see your greatness. Move bro. Your breakthrough just began. Mark this.”

“Anyone telling you that you are good when you are not is not your friend. We all understood what she was saying but she said it in a harsh way. In others words you are good but you need to be better to be the best version of you,” @iampetkid tweeted.

@Mz_MariaC wrote “all you have to do is work on what she said, work hard. I am sorry she said that, but then it should propel to chase your dreams more, and eventually you’d look back and be glad you went through that.”
