Justice Ibrahim Yusuf of the Kwara State High Court has denied the bail application of the counsel for Daud Adebayo, Mr Sikiru Solagberu, on Tuesday.
Adebayo was charged with aiding and receiving the stolen property from the victim, Late Olajide Blessing Omowumi.
Justice Yusuf said: “Generally, bail is at the discretion of the court, but in this circumstance, the counsel failed to give satisfactory reasons to grant his request. I am not inclined to grant the request as the case in question borders on a capital offence.”
In the same vein, the prosecution counsel, led by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Salman Jawondo, has filed an application to invite three witnesses.
The trial continues today and according to the judge, would henceforth run every day.
Adebayo and seven other suspects which include Abdulazeez Ismail, Ajala Oluwatimileyin, Oyeyemi Omogbolahan, Abdulkarim Shuaib, Kareem Rasheed, Abdullateef Abdulrahman, and Akande Taiye Oladoja are being tried for the rape and murder of a 24-year old University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) 300 level student, Olajide Blessing Omowumi.
