…Pressure groups condemn arrest, threaten Legal actions
Popular comedian, MC Macaroni and some protesters who were arrested in connection with the #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest have been freed.

Earlier, TheNewsBeam reported that the comedian with several protesters were arrested for protesting at the Lekki Toll Gate today.
Promoters of the protest are presently locating names of all protesters in police custody in order to push for their release.
In the same vein, some pressure groups have vehemently condemned the action of the police force while handling the protest.
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) said it would take legal actions against the Lagos State Police Force for arresting protesters.
“We’ll pursue appropriate legal actions if the #EndSARS protesters arbitrarily arrested simply for peacefully exercising their human rights are not immediately and unconditionally released. Peaceful assembly is a fundamental right.”
Amnesty International has also said it “condemn the arrest and detention of the #EndSARS peaceful protesters at #Lekkitollgate. We have also been informed that those arrested have been denied access to lawyers and doctors. @PoliceNG”
The Nigeria Bar Association has also condemned the arrest. According to the statement by the President, the association said:
“The images & footages of the unlawful actions of the Nigerian Police at the Lekki Tollgate Lagos are truly shocking. The Nigeria Bar Association condemns the brazen disrespect for the fundamental rights of unarmed citizens who are merely exercising their rights to peaceful protests.”
