Since the premier of his new movie, “Oko Iyabo,” Yomi Fabiyi has been facing harsh criticisms from fellow members in the Nollywood industry.
Yomi Fabiyi in his new movie, portrayed the sexual molestation scandal involving a fellow colleague in the industry, Omiyinka James Olanrewaju (Baba Ijesha).
Centering around Iyabo Ojo, Comedienne Princess, and several actors agitating for the minor involved in the scandal. Characters in “Oko Iyabo” bear the real names of those connected to the issue.
This has generated lots of reactions among fellow colleagues in the industry and movie enthusiasts despite the movie being unpublished hours after its release. Here are some of the harsh reactions from fellow celebrity actors and actresses.
“I am ashamed I know you.” – Tonto Dikeh
Tonto Dikeh said she was ashamed of knowing Yomi Fabiyi, the playwright and producer of the movie, who she said had displayed bitterness, anger and a disgusting act.
She said: “Yomi I have intentionally stayed off your opinion in recent matters… But what you have just done by capitalizing on the pain and Agony of a molested child and the slap in the mother’s face, I am ashamed I know you…
“It’s a slap on all RAPE Victims (Dead or alive) Yomi, I expected better of you. My prayers for you is that you find men and women who will fight for your children if they see injustice but God forbid they ever see it..
“I can’t tell a grown man what to do but I sincerely hope there is a part of the law that can handle this “BULLY…
“I wouldn’t disrespect you nor will I hate you. I don’t feed you, so I add no Value but I will LOOK YOU IN YOUR DAMN EYEBALLS AND TELL YOU THE DAMN TRUTH YOUR WRONG..
“WHAT YOU HAVE DONE IS DISGUSTING AND IT’S CALLED BULLYING..
“You have displayed bitterness and anger.. This has nothing to do with your support for an accused rapist… This is your heart coming out to dance.”
“MUTHAFUCKER ni motherfucker yi mehn!!!” – Bolanle Ninolowo
Bolanle Ninolowo has also given Yomi Fabiyi a share of some abusive words in reaction to the controversial movie. He also dared Yomi Fabiyi to engage him physically.
He said: “MUTHAFUCKER ni motherfucker yi mehn!! I lose manners on this motherfucker @realyomifabiyi Agbalagba oponu ni eh! If you like respond to me, abeg let’s make it in person fucker! Apologies to my fans and kids …”
“My Heart Bleeds…” – Opeyemi Aiyeola
Opeyemi Aiyeola has also expressed how disappointed and bittered she felt over the subject matter of the movie. On her Instagram page, she shared the emojis of a teardrop and a broken heart with a caption that reads:
“My heart bleeds for the girl in the middle of all this mayhem and her family, my heart bleeds for the upcoming actors whose career hasn’t even started and foolishly/ desperately allowed themselves be used this way, my heart bleeds for my industry (A platform that has over years made people out of social, family and religious rejects like me.”
“Yomi Fabiyi, you are a Disgrace!” – Mercy Aigbe
Mercy Aigbe has claimed that she had said her mind to Yomi Fabiyi over a phone call. She said he is a disgrace for mocking the minor involved in the issue.
“How on earth would you make a mockery of someone’s agonizing pain! How????? Only a wicked soul would do that!!!!! Just that particular scene I saw of your movie is insensitive, utterly distasteful and disgusting! @realyomifabiyi”
“Yomi Fabiyi today has Proved how Much of a Shame and Insensitive He is.” – Dayo Amusa
According to Dayo Amusa, the new movie by Yomi proved how shameless and insensitive he is. She further called on appropriate bodies such as the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) and the National Film Video Censors Board Censorship Video and Films Board (NCVFB) to take drastic action.
“In as much as I choose not to speak openly about the ongoing issues but there are issues one must not keep quiet on. Seeing a video of a movie by Yomi Fabiyi today has proved how much of a shame and insensitive he is. You even had the effrontery to share the movie link with me on WhatsApp. I don’t judge people as I believe we all see things and react to situations differently but Under no circumstances should someone’s pain and tribulation be turned into a thing of mockery. Yomi just proved how much he lacks empathy. To what extent if I may ask, TAMPAN, Censors Boards and the court of law shouldn’t shy away from this. Ilu ti o sofin ni ko si ese. Anje ekuru ko tan! I am disappointed.”
“Yomi Fabiyi is a Shameless Idiot.” – Do2dtun
Nigerian Video Jockey, Do2dtun, said: “Yomi Fabiyi is a shameless idiot. This is the premium class of clout chasing. you can’t ever be this inhumane to prove a point that clearly stinks. you degraded a child to make A movie. Such A Mess. If TAMPAN Let’s Him release that movie then they are equally as irresponsible…”
