The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has stated that it will prosecute Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, for contempt of court over production of ‘Oko lyabo’ movie.
Yomi Fabiyi in the movie, demonstrated the sexual molestation scandal involving a fellow colleague in the industry, Omiyinka James Olanrewaju (Baba Ijesha), who is undergoing trial for allegedly molesting a minor, as being innocent of the charges against him.
The movie which generated lots of reactions among his fellow colleagues in the industry and movie enthusiasts was greatly criticized, despite the movie being unpublished hours after its release on YouTube.
Furthermore, the director and prosecution counsel for DPP, Ms Olayinka Adeyemi, on Monday, 26 July, 2021 said Mr Fabiyi made a movie from the facts of Baba Ijesha’s ongoing alleged rape case using the real names of the defendants and the survivor of the case.
Adeyemi also pleaded with the court to exclude Yomi Fabiyi from the court proceedings.
Reacting to the plea, the judge, Oluwatoyin Taiwo, said the matter will be investigated.
