Continuous security threats such as kidnapping, banditry, terrorism can be identified as factors that led to the increase in the prices of agricultural products.
Report from the Selected Food Prices Watch for November 2020 by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows that the average price of 1kg of onion bulb skyrocketed to N379.39/kg from N270.60/kg in October.
The report reveals that the highest price was sold in Abuja (FCT) at N670/Kg while the lowest price was sold in Kwara State at N418.57/Kg.
The average price watch by State reveals that Imo State recorded the highest increase month on month by 177.37% to N978.35/kg.
Delta State followed with an average price increase month on month by 157.46% to N656.48/kg.
Other States such as Ebonyi, Enugu, Cross Rivers States also sold at high price month on month by 148.83%, 125.36%, and 100.87% respectively.

Similarly, the average price of onion sold in Oyo State contracted by -10.19% to N242.31/kg.
Average price of Onion bulb also contracted in other States such as Ekiti, Kwara, Sokoto, Ondo, and Nasarawa by -7.52%, -4.66%, -4.54%, -4.15%, and -2.52% respectively.
