Outrage as North to South Food Blockade Persists
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Nigerians react to the continuous food blockade from the North to South.

The continuous killings in the South by armed herdsmen had led to the agitation of some Southerners who had in areas such as Oyo, Ondo sent the Northerners packing from the region.

In reaction to this, Miyetti Allah and several stakeholders from the North directed that transportation of food items from the North should be grounded.

The food blockade has led to the scarcity of some food items such as pepper, onions and many more.

Also, prices of cow meat had skyrocketed in the past week.

Commenting on the issue on Twitter, Bello Shagari, the Managing Director of RAYLF, said “The so called food blockade from North to South. The Presidency is silent, The Senate is Silent, The Representative are silent, The Governors are silent. Political parties are silent. Wonderful!”

A Twitter user, @benardthebold, said “No food for South West until Fulanis are safe – Miyetti Allah This cracked me up😂😂😂 Like a mother to her children Soon: No cement, Salt, Spaghetti, Sugar to south west.”

@OmoseebiAderemi said: “I went to the market yesterday to buy cow meat for stew. They said no cow meat, I kukuma buy One old layer chicken, N2400. I use am cook stew and one pot of Egusi soup. There’s this joy anytime I opened my pot of stew and see the head of the chicken smiling at me. Miyetti Allah”

@von_Bismack said: “Someone asked you to stop killing his people, your response is to block passage for foods. Since Buhari took over, Miyetti Allah av held this nation hostage, making threats and declarations, killings and sorts yet they are as free as the air. The South will remember’

@TosinOlugbenga said: “Miyetti Allah has become government to itself. They decided who should get food or not. Buhari gave them that voice. Imagine the south also block trailers and oil tankers from going to the north. Since we are now tired of ourselves let’s call for referendum and go our ways.”

@jagganiyu said: “Miyetti Allah is hoarding foodstuff and the government is quiet but when the South West retaliates just watch how fast the government springs into action.”

@FulaniChristian said: “No food for South West until Fulanis are safe–Miyetti Allah Because they were not allowed to continue destroying people’s crops, killing, raping & kidnapping. If that’s what it would take for peace to be restored in the South West, then let it be. Southerners have farmers too”
