Prof. Isa Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy has reinterated the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting digital innovation and entrepreneurship among Nigerian youths.
The Minister gave this assurance yesterday, February 15, 2022, during the commissioning of an Information Technology (IT) Innovation Centre named after President Muhammadu Buhari in Katsina State.
Pantami added that the Federal Government’s goal is to have individuals and institutions achieve greatness and wealth through IT.
He insisted that doing so would turn the youths into job creators and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.

According to him, the global economy has shifted from being dominated by those in the oil and gas sector to those in information and communication technology.

“Nigeria must create a conducive environment and mentorship for talented youths in the IT sector, Digital Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation are prerequisites for the digital economy.”
“Leading nations in Europe, Switzerland, Asia, South Korea, and the United States today have strong economies that excel in digital innovation and digital entrepreneurship.”
“Nigeria cannot and must not fall behind. “That is why this type of IT hub was built to monitor our youths’ IT needs.” “We will continue to mentor them in order for them to become job providers and successful IT individuals like Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates of the world.”
“A center like this will assist the federal and state governments in discovering and mentoring our talented youths so that they can become job providers and contribute to the nation’s economy,” he concluded.
