The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that its national convention initially scheduled to hold in December will now be conducted before the end of October, 2021.
The party also announced that it’s national chairman, Uche Secondus, will maintain his position till then.
Disclosing this is the Sokoto State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governor’s Forum, Aminu Tambuwal, on Tuesday after a closed-door meeting of the party stakeholders in Abuja.
Tambuwal stated that despite the internal crisis in the party, members of the party have agreed to work together.
“We are very happy to announce that we have discussed all matters and we have resolved to continue to work as a united family” he said.
Recall that the national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus has been under increased pressure of late, with demands for his resignation coming from various quarters.
This made the governors and stakeholders of the party to meet for several hours on Monday, August 9, 2021 at the party’s headquarters for the make or mar meeting.
The meeting which couldn’t be concluded on Monday, made the 13 state governors elected on the platform of the party, members of the national assembly, former ministers, former senate presidents, former governors, and other party stakeholders to converge again on Tuesday.
