Members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) have began an indefinite nationwide strike today, Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
This was announced in a statement by the President, Anderson Ezeibe, titled “Withdrawal of the Services of Members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics in a Nationwide Strike Action.”
“Today therefore marks Day 1 of the execution of the resolutions of our Union as already, academic activities have been shut down in ALL PROGRAMS run in Polytechnics and like institutions across the nation effective 00.00 hrs of 6th April, 2021,” the president said.
The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education had earlier called for an emergency meeting, today, with the leaders of the Union to prevent the strike.
