The Honourable Minister of Power, Engineer Sale Mamman has approved the appointment of Mallam Abba Aliyu to Coordinate the Power Sector Economic Sustainability Committee in order to close the country’s energy gap and provide electricity to 25 million citizens.
The Power Sector Economic Sustainability Program was established by the Federal Government in order for the country to close it’s energy gap and provide electricity to 25 million citizens. The announcement which was made on the official Twitter handle of the Office of the Minister of Power stated that for there to be efficiency in the program especially among the various partners, appointment of a Coordinator was important, saying,
“To accelerate progress and ensure efficiency between the implementing partners and State Governments, the Hon. Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman has approved the appointment of Mallam Abba Aliyu, an experienced Power Sector administrator, as coordinator for the programme.”
The duty of Abba Aliyu will be to engage all parties to make the program successful through maximum partnership and cooperation. He is also expected to drive cooperation between the Federal Rural Electrification Agency and State Rural Electrification Agencies to accelerate their participation, as well as partner with the REA and CBN for the monitoring and Evaluation of the Project.
Abba Aliyu is to commence his duties with immediate effect.
