The use of internet services may determine the level of one’s civilization. Many Nigerians, often assume that the Northern part of the country should have the least users of internet. Due to the people’s low interest in western education.
However, the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, NBS recently reported Bayelsa and Ebonyi States to have the least number of subscribers in active voice and active internet in the fourth quarter of 2020 (Q4 2020).
According to the report released by NBS, titled, ‘Telecoms Data: Active Voice and Internet Per State, Porting and Tariff Information Q4 2020’, it reflected that a total 204,601,313 subscribers were active on voice as against 205,252,058 in Q3 2020, representing -0.32% decrease in voice subscriptions QoQ.
“Similarly, a total of 154,301,195 subscribers were active on the internet as against 151,512,122 in Q3 2020, representing 1.84% growth in internet subscriptions QoQ.
“Lagos State has the highest number of subscribers in terms of active voice per State in Q4 2020 and is closely followed by Kano and Ogun States respectively while Bayelsa and Ebonyi States have the least number of subscribers.
“Similarly, Lagos State has the highest number of subscribers in terms of active internet per State in Q4 2020 and is closely followed by Kano and Ogun States respectively while Bayelsa and Ebonyi States have the least number of subscribers.
“MTN has the highest share of subscriptions. This is closely followed by AIRTEL, GLO, and EMTS respectively.” The report stated.
