See the 3 Council Chairmen Suspended by Lagos Legislators
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Legislators of the Lagos State House of Assembly have unanimously suspended 3 Local Council Chairmen for disobeying the guidelines governing their activities.

The suspended chairmen are:

Ogidan Mukandasi Olaitan – Lekki Local Council Development Agency, LCDA,

Suleiman Jelili – Alimosho Local Government Area, and

Tajudeen Ajide of the Surulere local government area.

Their suspension was approved by members of the House in a voice vote with no opposition shortly after Hon. Bisi Yusuff (Alimosho 1) raised a complaint against Olaitan.

Speaking on the Legislators’ decision, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Obasa, said the House had received petitions from many councillors in the state against sitting chairmen.

Speaker Obasa added that the House cannot continue to watch while council chairmen flout the laws they were supposed to uphold.

“Total disregard for the local government guideline is something that should not be tolerated.

“We cannot continue like this. We cant be breeding monsters in our local government councils,” the Speaker said.
