A social media app, TikTok has stated that it removed more than seven million accounts of users from its app.
Stating the reason for the removal, TikTok stated that the users of the accounts are suspected of being under the age of 13, as at the first three months of 2021.
TikTok disclosed this in a transparency report on Wednesday, stating that it uses a variety of methods, including a safety moderation team, that monitors accounts where users are suspected of being untruthful about their age.
The Chinese-owned app also said it took down nearly 62 million videos in the first quarter for violating community standards — including for “hateful” content, nudity, harassment or safety for minors.
