The representative of Nigeria for the Table Tennis Women’s Singles at the preliminary round, Olufunke Oshonaike, has suffered a 4-1 defeat against the USA at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The USA athlete, Juan Liu, beat Oshonaike in the first, second, third, and fifth rounds of the event, while Oshonaike had just the fourth round.
In the first round, Liu had 11 points while Oshonaike had 7, in the second and third rounds, Liu also had 11 while Oshonaike had 3 and 4 points respectively.
Oshonaike won the fourth round as she earned 13 points while Liu had 11 points. In the final round, Liu capped her win by beating the Nigerian 11-4.
Olufunke is automatically out of the Olympics game following this loss.
