Tokyo Olympics: US Basketball Stars to Join Nigeria's D'Tigress Squad
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

US Based Basketball players and Sisters Nneka, Chiney and Erica Ogwumike have been selected to possibly join Nigeria squad at the Tokyo Olympics.

Nigeria’s National women team, D’Tigress, Head Coach, Otis Hughley, shortlisted the two sisters, Nneka and Erica to join their younger sister, Erica in the 15-person provisional list.

After not being shortlisted in the USA Olympics squad for the third time, Nneka Ogwumike and her two sisters may make history as first trio siblings to play in the same team in the Olympics should they get considered by the Nigerian Basketball Federation.

Commenting on this development, Nneka said: “The running joke was who was the family going to root for, because I was planning on playing against Erica.

“But, you know, life unfolds in some beautiful ways: To be able to possibly share the highest athletic honor with not only Chiney, but my youngest sister,” Nneka Ogwumike said.

Nneka and Chiney Ogwumike play for the Los Angeles Sparks. They were the WNBA’s No. 1 drafts for 2012 and 2014 respectively. Their sister, Erica, played as a freshman for Pepperdine.
