Tomato Price Contracts in Jigawa, Abuja, Lagos, 10 Other States

… As its National Average Price Rises by 2.77% in November

The average price of tomato contracted in 13 states across the nation.

According to the Selected Food Price Watch report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the average price of tomato across the country rose by 2.77% in November to N316.16/kg from N307.63/kg in October.

13 states which includes Abuja, Lagos, Adamawa, Bayelsa, Delta, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Kogi, Kwara, Ondo, Osun, and Oyo recorded contraction in the average price of the good.

Jigawa State recorded the highest contraction by -18.8% to N297.15/kg from N366.29/kg in October.

The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja also recorded a fall in the average price of tomato by -17.15% to N257.06/kg from N310.26/kg in October.

Delta State also recorded a sharp decrease in the average price of tomato by -8.46% from N590.78/kg in October to N540.80/kg in the month of November.

Ondo State sold at an average price of N306.27/kg which represented -7.13% reduction compared with N329.77/kg recorded in October.

Kano State sold at N244.27/kg which represented -6.38% reduction in the average price of tomato compared with N260.90/kg in October.

In Katsina State, the average price of tomato stood at N239.58/kg, which represented -5.42% reduction compared with N253.32/kg in October.

Lagos State recorded -3.2% reduction in the average price of tomato sold in November from N297.01/kg in October to N287.52/kg.

Osun State also recorded a fall in the price of tomato by -1.64% to N248.72/kg from N252.88/kg in October.

Adamawa and Oyo States sold at average prices N145.79/kg and N216.45/kg respectively. These prices represent -1.46% and -1.4% reduction respectively.

Other States that recorded decline in the average price of tomato include Kogi, Kwara, and Bayelsa States by -0.36%, 0.31%, and -0.06% respectively.

However, the average price of tomato in Zamfara State stables at N244.94/kg in November.
