It’s been 7 months since the usage of the Microblogging site, Twitter became illegal in Nigeria.
The federal government had suspended the operations of Twitter on June 5, 2021, leading to a number of attacks and counter-attacks on social media. Fortunately, the federal government announced, yesterday, January 12, 2021, that suspension of the ban has reached an agreement on the terms and conditions for operation with Twitter.
Twitter, in a post announcing its official return, has said its mission is to serve the public conversation within the country and around the world, and it is delighted that its services can be restored to Nigerians.

“We are deeply committed to Nigeria, where Twitter is used by people for commerce, cultural engagement, and civic participation. “We’re committed to integrating diverse perspectives that make our service better for everyone”, the platform added.
The US government has also responded to the restoration of Twitter’s services through the US mission in Nigeria.
